Acquisition of Microtherm Engineered Solutions NV Promat International NV reached an agreement to acquire Microtherm Engineered Solutions NV, a leading provider of high performance insulation solutions and industrial applications. Microtherm offers unique opportunities thanks to its innovative product and solution development based on microporous silica technologies.
Its thermal insulation has very high performances compared to the conventional insulation products and minimises the transmission of heat over a large temperature range. This high performance, together with the thinness of the products, give Microtherm's products a strong competitive advantage in a large number of applications such as vacuum insulated panels (VIP), fuel cells, furnaces and storage heaters.
Microtherm manufacturers a broad range of products and offers its customers tailor made solutions, has offices in Belgium, Japan and the US and employs more than 200 people.
This acquisition will support the strategy to invest value-added technologies in the field of energy saving pro- grams. The microporous technology and, in particular, the vacuum insulated panels create new opportu- nities for product and system development for building insulation. |

Promat invests in sustainable growth Promat, worldwide leader in high performance proactive fire protection and insulation systems, invests also today in sustainable growth.
Promat factories are continuously looking for opportunities to reduce their impact on the environment. Reducing the CO2-emission is one of the objectives. Not only the production, but the full supply chain is taken into account including the selection of raw materials, the packaging and the transport of raw materials. As shipping causes less CO2-emission, Promat gives preference to this means of transport.
The Promat factory in Tisselt (Belgium) inaugurated on 16 September 2009 a new unloading and storage facility to extend the shipping of its raw materials. Promat has invested together with Sibelco, supplier of sand, more then half a million euro. Yearly 10.000 ton sand will now be transported by ship from the quarry in Mol to the factory of Tisselt, replacing more then 350 trucks.
As from September 2009 more than 60% of the raw materials for own production is delivered by ship. All materials included, Promat keeps more than 3500 trucks of the road.
In collaboration with "Waterwegen en Zeekanaal NV" Promat will further extend the quay. This extension is required as Promat will invest in a new production line before the end of 2010. The total investment will count up to 23 million euro.
Promat strongly believes that also in time of crisis a company needs to invest in a sustainable future.
